Where are the coolest destinations for a thrilling adventure holiday?

Written by Ashley Casey

From trekking the Inca trail to canoeing the Zambezi in Zambia, there are many different adventure holidays that you can take that will give you so much more than sun, sand, and sea.

Travelers and holidaymakers are looking for more from their holidays than relaxing on the beach with a fruity cocktail — they are looking for an inspiring and action-packed adventure break where they can feel that they have embraced the local environment and have immersed themselves in activities that are physical, spiritual and all-encompassing.

Peru is a Must-Do

Often featured in the top spot on travel bucket lists, trekking the Inca Trail in Peru remains a must-do experience for many travelers.

The ancient city of Machu Picchu is historically significant, and it can take four days’ worth of hiking to reach. As well as the trek itself, visitors can also try zip lining and paddleboarding, too. This one is ideal for those who love to travel as well as seek adventure and culture, too!

Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Not sure about Peru? How about Costa Rica? If you love wildlife, then a trek through the Corcovado National Park rainforest is ideal for animal lovers.

It is chock-full of monkeys, sloths and lots of other fascinating animals and wildlife. Our fun tip is for Costa Rica if you’re there for a while and are looking for a volunteering project, why not head to the Nosara Refuge for Wildlife where you can help take care of the cutest baby Howler monkeys!

Thrill seekers wanted!

If you are an adrenaline junkie, then why not consider a thrill-seeking adventure to the Azores. You can undertake exciting activities, such as rock climbing, mountain biking, cliff diving and more! The natural beauty of this landscape is breathtaking.

Elephants, hippos and crocodiles – Oh my!

Love being on the water? Canoeing on the Zambezi is an excellent choice for an adventure holiday. It is well-suited for people with moderate to high levels of fitness and is an excellent way to witness Zambia’s incredible wildlife.

From elephants to crocodiles, the prospect of witnessing these creatures up close is an opportunity not to be missed. Canoeing along the Zambezi River is also an excellent opportunity to see the different Zambian communities that live on the river, too.

The Brilliant Bahamas

If you love water sports and are looking for a sunshine break, then the Bahamas has to be at the top of your list. From diving to snorkeling, you will be spoiled for choice.

After all that hard work, we are sure you will want some downtime relaxing on the beach and perhaps enjoying some delicious food.

One of our favorite places is Nobu in Nassau where you can enjoy Asian-Bahamian fusion cuisine, one of eight fine dining restaurants in the fabulous Paradise Island’s Atlantis Resort. There are also lots of exciting things to do, from playing poker in the opulent casino to making friends with dolphins at the marine habitat.

Plenty of yeehaw!

Want to embrace your inner cowboy or girl? A trip to the state of Texas in the USA could be the ticket! Experience life on a cattle ranch in the heart of Texas Hill Country and live the American dream where you can horse ride, hike and much more to your heart’s content. And for that much-needed downtime, which every cowboy and girl knows that you need, there is line dancing and campfires in the evening. Yeehaw!

Wherever you go, capture all those unique moments to show off to your friends afterward. Whether you are taking photos with a DSLR or a smartphone, it doesn’t matter what you use! However, photos are only part of the unique tapestry of your trip, as your memories will also be with you forever.
